Built-In Dimensions
Custom Dimensions
Create dimensions from contact custom fields:Setting Up

- Click Scan for Fields, then click a field card to enable it
- Click Save Dimensions
state becomes State.
Example: State
If contacts have astate field:
- Enable
statefrom the scanned field list - The dimension appears in reports labeled State
Cardinality
Dimensions work best with:- Low cardinality (few unique values)
- Meaningful groupings
- Complete data
- ✅ State (50 values)
- ✅ Plan type (3 values)
- ❌ Email (too many unique values)
Using Dimensions in Reports
Performance Report
- Go to Reports > Performance
- Select dimension from dropdown
- View metrics broken down
Example Output
By State:Dimension Coverage
Not all contacts may have data for a dimension:Improving Coverage
- Require field at signup
- Enrich data from external sources
- Default values for common cases
Multi-Dimensional Analysis
Combine dimensions for deeper analysis:Dimension Refresh
Custom dimension stats — coverage percentage and unique value count — are recomputed each time you click Scan for Fields. Use Recalculate Now to backfill historical report rows with your current custom dimensions. Pick the window first — Recalculate last offers 30, 90, 180 or 365 days — and note that only one recalculation can run per hour.Best Practices

Date, Message Text, Primary Offer cover most needs. Add custom only when needed.
Keep cardinality low
Keep cardinality low
Dimensions with 50+ values become hard to analyze. Group values if needed.
Ensure data quality
